Communities: Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation

Unique, Natural beauty

 image

Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation is a small community situated on Dinorwic Lake, east of Dryden, Ontario, a few kilometres south of the Trans Canada Highway.

The landscape around the community includes some of the best stands of old growth white pine, cedar, white birch and black ash in Ontario - all tree species that have rich symbolic significance and ancient cultural connections for indigenous people. The Wabigoon and Turtle River water sheds possess some of the richest and most productive manomin - wild rice- fields in North America.

Community residents participate in several industries, including forestry, wild rice processing, a tree nursery and a distribution network.

The community's annual Pow Wow is held on the September long weekend.
