Measuring Retail Market Gravitation

For Immediate Release:

PACE Releases Measuring Retail Market Gravitation Study

February 13, 2012 – Dryden, ON  In September of 2011, Patricia Area Community Endeavours (PACE),  released an In/Out Shopping Survey targeted at consumers to explore their shopping habits.  The survey was available online on various websites and sent out in hard copy via the Ad-bag, as well as Municipal offices. Of the 561 respondents, 98 percent said they shopped at least once per year outside the PACE region, the most common reason was for travel, followed by online shopping and lastly catalogue shopping. Included in the study were Business Operators Survey, Focus Groups, One-on-one Interviews and a Retail Market First Impression Exercise.

There are some simple recommendations we can implement right away. From a consumer standpoint the 3/50 Project  - choose three favourite local businesses or service providers that you would miss if they were gone and commit to spend a total of $50 each month amongst the three vendors. From a business standpoint e-marketing allows options to communicate with customers for free and on a daily basis!

Part of PACE’s mandate is to support business development “The concept behind this study was to identify specific targeted strategies that can help small- to medium-sized retail businesses” stated Brian Miles, General Manager of PACE.
