Patricia Area Community Endeavours held their Annual General Meeting on January 19, 2010. James Brohm from Sioux Lookout was chosen as the new Chair for 2010. The Board members for 2010 are Andy Sky, Anne Krassilowsky, Bob Ray, Bryan Brown, Dennis Smyk, Garry Parkes, Graeme Mackechnie, James Brohm, Joe Carbone, Lionel Cloutier, Richard Wetelainen, Rob McClendon & Terry Favelle.

Greg Rickford, MP attended the meeting, and congratulated PACE on their hard work and commitment to help stimulate the economies of the communities within the region.

In the past year PACE through the grants of the Local Initiatives Fund  has contributed over $102,000 to community organizations encouraging community development growth and capacity building in the non-profit sector within the eight communities throughout PACE’s region.  PACE has approved over $800,000 this past year in loans assisting local businesses with start up or expansion funds within our region.  Through a contract with Employment Ontario, PACE also delivers the Self Employment Benefit Program within the region.  This past year over 40 individuals have been provided direct assistance through this program.

Chair James Brohm states “we have a very exciting year ahead of us in 2010.  Of course we will continue to deliver the Local Initiatives Fund and lend money to local business through the Investment Fund, but is also looking forward to operationalizing our new Regional Economic Development Strategic Plan”.
